Mental Health Begins with YOU!
National Mental Health Week (5th – 12th October) is an annual event which aims to raise awareness for people in Australia living with a mental illness and to encourage them to seek help. Mental Health Week coincides with World Mental Health Day on 10th October.
This year, Mental Health Australia, the peak, national non-government organisation representing and promoting the interests of the Australian mental health sector, is leading a campaign called Mental Health Begins with Me!
The campaign has three themes:
- Encouraging people to seek help when they need it
- Helping to break down stigma in relation to mental illness
- Bringing communities together
They are asking for all Australians to help support the campaign by making a simple mental health promise to ourselves.
We can all take part in this by going to https://1010.org.au./promise/add and uploading our promise.
beyondblue are running their own campaign; a National Roadshow from February 2014 to May 2015. A big blue bus will travel 40,000 kilometers through every state and territory in Australia, visiting hundreds of communities across the 61 Medicare Local regions. Artius will show support in collaboration with West Moreton-Oxley Medicare Local by attending various events held in the region between the 19th and 24th of October.
