Artius Physiotherapy Scholarship awarded to Indigenous UQ Student, Kylie Dunn
Mon May 23 2011Artius Health Group today announced the recipient of their inaugural Artius Physiotherapy Scholarship would be local UQ, Ipswich Campus student, Kylie Dunn.
Kylie is an outstanding Bachelor of Physiotherapy student, and an Indigenous Australian, who is currently in her fourth and final year on the UQ Ipswich campus.
Artius Health Group established the scholarship this year (2011), to encourage and support students of merit in their fourth year of Bachelor of Physiotherapy who have experienced educational disadvantage in one or more of the following areas:
(a) Significant disability
(b) Aboriginal or Torres Strait islander status
The Scholarship will support Kylie through the remainder of 2011, assisting to finance her tuition and textbook costs. She will also be offered work experience and mentoring in the Artius Health Clinics, and the opportunity to pursue Graduate Employment upon course completion.
“Kylie is an enthusiastic girl who has worked very hard to get to where she is today.
We are excited to see our support helping her, knowing that she is keen and eager to use her hard-learned skills in her local community of Ipswich when she graduates. And we look forward to giving her plenty of hand-on opportunities to learn and grow in her final year of studies,” said Artius Health Managing Director, Paul Stokes, who is also a trained Physiotherapist.
Artius intend to offer this Scholarship annually, to realise their ambition of supporting and assisting promising local students in entering the profession that they take great pride in serving.
“Coming from a physiotherapy background myself, it is important to me to give back to the education and development of today’s youth if they are interested and keen to pursue physiotherapy. If this can help a disadvantaged student achieve, then we are enormously proud to help”.
