MusicWorks Program is a Winner

Mon Sep 19 2011

Well-respected Disability Employment Services Group, Artius Employment is proud to, again, be offering its full support for the third installation of the winning MusicWorks Program.

The MusicWorks program, run by the Ipswich City Council and supported by Artius Employment, Templar Training, USQ and Goodna Neighbourhood House, provides young people aged between 18-25yrs the opportunity to complete a Certificate II in Work Practices under Skilling Queenslander for Work funding. The program has been designed to help participants develop the knowledge and skills required to successfully gain and maintain employment, work effectively in a team environment, and manage projects.

Young jobseekers in need of a helping hand that join this program have the ability to become job ready while having fun with music. They are given access to musical instruments, digital recording equipment and the facilities, such as an Internet radio station at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ).  This is an amazing opportunity and one that they would never normally have been afforded.

“This type of program provides unprecedented support to a group who have previously been left behind.  It gives them a purpose and builds their confidence which enhances their ability to obtain and maintain employment” says Chris Whitfield, an Artius Employment Specialist.

Success is evident, with the most recent group not only securing employment but also winning the Battle of the Bands competition at the Rosewood Park Jam, held September 3rd 2011.  This group participated in the 14 week MusicWorks program and as a result were able to secure employment and also have the opportunity to perform their music at the festival, coming away with a win.

“We feel very privileged to be able to be a part of this amazing program and look forward to providing our ongoing support in the future”, says Managing Director Paul Stokes.

The third MusicWorks program is now off and running with limited spots available for willing participants.
