Artius Foundation Sponsors Team in Queensland Pacific Island Cultural Carnival
The Artius Foundation recently sponsored the Torres Strait Islands U14 team to participate in the 2017 Queensland Pacific Island Cultural Carnival, a three-day tournament held at Beenleigh’s Bill Norris Oval. Uncle Steve Mam Memorial Team sent a special thank you to Artius for its much-valued support and sponsorship which provide the opportunity for the team to join in on the weekend which was supported by the QRL’s SEQ Division and NRL.
The carnival celebrated the cultural heritage of Queensland-based Pacific Island and Indigenous people and all games were played in a respectful manner with an array of talent and passion displayed in what has become a highlight of the rugby league calendar in South East Queensland. The countries and cultures that represented at the tournament in ages of U14, U16, U18, Open Men and Open Women where Cook Islands, Indigenous, Maori, PNG, Samoa, Tokelau, Niue, Tonga and Torres Strait Islands.
Artius Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Manager, Barry Fewquandie, is very pleased to inform that the U14 Torres Strait Island Memorial Team are the 2017 QPICC Undefeated Champions!
