Artius Launches Reconciliation Action Plan

In front of employees, board and community members and Governmental Department representatives, Artius Group launched it’s Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan 2016-2018 last month.

Held at Jelluragal Cultural Centre in Burleigh Heads, Managing Director Paul Stokes formally launched the plan on July 20th. The Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), created under the guidance and approval of Reconciliation Australia documents an Australian business’ intention to contribute to reconciliation.

“Artius are proud to be working with Reconciliation Australia to develop and implement a RAP” said Artius Managing Director, Paul Stokes. “Our reconciliation journey demonstrates our commitment to putting in place practical actions to build respectful relationships and create opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.”

A critical step in the formal recognition of Artius’ intent to commit to the reconciliation journey was the endorsement of the RAP by Gold Coast based not for profit organisation Krurungal Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation. Well respected community member, Ms Jackie McDonald of Krurungal made the Welcome to Country during the launch ceremony which included traditional dance and music provided by local Gold Coast performers the Yugambeh Dancers.

During the ceremony major awards were presented to Mr Ian Anderson (Indigenous Client Achievement Award) and Ms Georgia Ash (Employee Contribution to Reconciliation Award). Additional awards were presented to Artius employees for commitment to reconciliation and closing the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

Said Mr Brad Vocale, “As an Indigenous Australian and Artius employee, it makes me proud to be a part of an organisation with a strong commitment to reconciliation and a plan, which has the support of each and every team member from the Managing Director right through to the bus driver.”
