Artius Launches Social & Emotional Well-being Programs
Artius is thrilled to announce the launch of our Social & Emotional Well-being programs within the Oakey community. This program has been generously sponsored by the New Hope Group through their social and community development funding. Artius, in collaboration with Goondir Aboriginal Medical Service in Oakey undertook a comprehensive needs analysis forum with local aboriginal community and the below age groups were identified as needing assistance in the community:
- Youth aged between 12 -15 years
- Youth aged between 16-17 years
- Parents/caregivers of the age groups above
These programs will be conducted over 2 days for each of the youth cohorts (12-15 years and 16-17 years) and over one day for caregivers/parents. The programs will adopt a strengths based approach, supporting parents and youth to:
- Make responsible life affirming decisions
- Build resilience
- Identify existing, and learn additional coping strategies
- Access appropriate services in the community
Issues covered in the programs will include such topics as:
- Substance use
- Family breakdown
- Interpersonal issues
- Relationship issues
- Suicide
- Deliberate self-harm
- Domestic violence
- Grief and loss (Sorry Business)
- Importance of community and social connectedness
