ARTIUS PROUD TO BE CHOSEN TO LEAD THE DEVELOPMENT OF A LOCAL DRUG ACTION PLAN IN GLADSTONE AREA
Artius is proud to have been chosen to lead the development of a Local Drug Action Plan (LDAP) for the Gladstone area. Through the Australian Alcohol and Drug Foundation (the ADF) the Commonwealth Government is funding Local Drug Action Teams around Australia to develop LDAPs which set out evidence informed prevention activities to address the alcohol and other drug-related issues specific to the local area.
The Local Drug Action Team Program recognises that no community is the same as the next and that locally-led responses are vital when it comes to preventing and minimising harms caused by alcohol and other drugs. Local Drug Action Teams are designed to strengthen neighbourhoods by delivering primary prevention initiatives such as peer support, mentoring, education in schools, support for young people and other resources to reduce alcohol harms in pregnancy.
Artius will work closely with the ADF and Here 4 Gladstone, and will convene a consortium of key local stakeholders who will work together to develop the Gladstone area LDAP. Consortium members in Gladstone include Here 4 Gladstone, Roseberry, Lives Lived Well, Bridges The Haven, Gladstone Regional Council and Safe Night Out. The draft LDAP will then be submitted to the ADF for ratification. After ratification, it will form the basis of future applications for additional Federal funding to deliver the actions identified in the plan.
