UQ Student receives $5,000 Scholarship

Artius is pleased to award a $5,000 Psychology scholarship in the field of Rural Care to Ellie Keane. Ellie was presented with the scholarship certificate on Thursday 14th August at The University of Queensland St Lucia campus, by Artius Managing Director, Paul Stokes.

Mr Stokes says, “I am very pleased to have such a strong partnership with The University of Queensland School Of Psychology through this scholarship and our clinical placement program. We are able to offer students a broad range of experience so that they can apply their studies, and our clients benefit from having access to psychologists with the latest knowledge and research to better meet their health needs”.

“I am extremely grateful to Artius for offering this fantastic opportunity for me to learn. The scholarship has allowed me to gain unique experiences working with older adults and in rural settings, both of which contain their own interesting facets in regards to treatment”, says Ellie Keane.

Professor Virginia Slaughter, Head of UQ’s School of Psychology says, “This is a very important partnership for our School.  Working with Artius means that our clinical and applied psychology postgraduate students have access to outstanding support and supervision in a variety of clinical settings during their professional training.”
Ellie has also been offered a practicum placement with Artius to extend her rural experience. Ellie has accepted this offer and commenced her 36week placement in August. Ellie may then have the option of ongoing employment in a graduate position with Artius.

"Having the opportunity to work in correctional centres has also been a fantastic opportunity for me. Placement opportunities to work with this population are rare and I consider myself very lucky to have had the experience” says, Ellie.

“Ellie is a very deserving winner of the Artius Psychology Scholarship, and will no doubt make a significant contribution to our team and our clients”, says Mr Stokes
