Stepped Care: Aboriginal And Torres Strait Islander Mental Health Services

For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People and the their Families

  • Referral pathways via multiple agencies including self referral, family and carers

  • Delivered by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health Workers or Practitioners, or Mental Health Professionals that have demonstrated local cultural competency and understanding

  • Services include identifying and facilitating development of appropriate services with community and facilitating access to:
    • Social and emotional wellbeing that includes: mental health; psychological, emotional and spiritual wellbeing; and issues impacting specifically on communities such as grief, loss and trauma, suicide and self-harm;
    • Kinship support including the informal support offered by families to a loved one; and
    • Peer support is the mutual support offered by people with similar experiences
