Laying Down the Tracks
Referrer Information
Laying Down the Tracks is a pilot program funded by the Central Queensland, Wide Bay, Sunshine Coast PHN. This 10 week program is specifically designed to assist developmentally vulnerable children, their families and carers in Gympie and the surrounding area.
The program is available free of charge for children aged 3-5years who have been assessed as having signs of one or more developmental vulnerabilities in the following domains from the Australian Early Development Census:

Laying Down the Tracks utilises Psychologists, Speech Pathologists and Occupational Therapists skilled and experienced in paediatric and developmental service provision. The program is designed to provide an early intervention, high intensity, trans-discipline approach to assist pre-school children to make a successful transition to the school environment while involving primary care givers to generate long term health and well-being benefits in the home and community.
How do I refer for Laying Down the Tracks?
GPs, Paediatricians and other health professionals may refer children to the program by completing the Laying Down the Tracks referral checklist and sending it to the program manager via one of the referral methods below. Child Care and Kindergarten Directors may also make a referral but should ensure the child is reviewed by their GP.
As a pilot program, Laying Down the Tracks can support a limited number of children. Once a referral is received, it will be assessed to determine eligibility for program participation. The referrer will be kept informed of the referral progress at all times.
